Siddharth or Gautam was born in a king’s family. Despite being brought up in the royal family of Kapilvastu amidst all the luxury and grandeur of the royal family, Gautam was so humble and approachable that, according to the legends even animals and birds shared their problems and went to him for help. At the age of 29 he left home for deep meditation for getting rid of all the earthly distractions. His quest for knowledge and the true meaning of life made him get involved into deep meditation and rigorous hardship to find the true meaning of life and its complexities, especially in suffering.

He traveled through a large part of East Asia and preached Buddhism that he initiated in a large part of Asia. The new religion he created was called Buddhism. Later on Buddhism was spread in a large area of the world. The Buddha Tour of India includes all the parts in India where Buddhism has flourished.
The journey of the Buddha Tour will definitely start from Kolkata or Delhi. From any of these places you will get flights or train to Patna. From Patna you need to drive to Bodhgaya, which is considered to be among the most sacred of the Buddhist pilgrimage places. It is said that Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodhgaya. Rajgir and Nalanda lie nearby. A Buddha Tour of the eastern part of India will remain incomplete without the tour of these three places. Nalanda was once the centre of Budddhist learning and Rajgir was the capital of Magadha. From Rajgir a road goes to Gridha-Kuta, where Buddha preached and the first Buddhist Council was held there after the mahaparinirvan of Lord Buddha.
Then Buddha went to Varanasi from Bodhgaya. Sarnath in Varanasi is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his sermon. Apart from the above mentioned places there are some other Buddhist pilgrimage places included to the Buddha Tour, those are, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Sravasti, Kapilavastu, Sanchi, Sankasya, Ajanta & Ellora, Kaushambhi, Vaishali, etc.
